ABOUT MAKESHIFT

Makeshift was created to contribute to solving the climate crisis, first and foremost. We seek to eliminate the fast-fashion industry - the second largest environmental polluter today - by bridging a gap between the two major alternatives: worn, outdated secondhand apparel, and sustainably but newly-produced fashions.

Makeshift takes secondhand or discarded apparel and fabrics that can be preserved, tailored, repaired, enhanced, and/or remade, and we create new, fun, one-of-a-kind pieces. Additionally, we offer sustainable styling services and resources to help everyday consumers understand, recognize, and find sustainable fashions.

Resourcefulness: using creativity and technical skill to find innovative ways of constructing and resourcing pieces

Mindfulness: remaining aware of the barriers to sustainable fashion in a capitalist economy; treating others with compassion and thoughtfulness as they learn
